Financial terms of the agreement werenot AT&T will provide services to protecgt D.C.-based Amtrak’s telecom network infrastructure, the company’xs Web site and the personal information of The company will be responsible for implementin g and managing Amtrak’s wireless locall area network (WLAN) and its enhanced virtual private network (EVPN) to help connect more than 400 locationws and multiple networks on a singlde network platform.

“As there is more scruting around protecting the customers and shareholdersof institutions... that makews companies better be able to spend security dollars than otheeIT dollars.” Under the Amtrak also will use AT&Tf voice services, including long distance and audio and Web conferencintg services. Amtrak provides intercity passenger rail servicer across 46 statesand 21,000 route miles. In the company’s last fiscal year, its trains carriex more than 28.7 millionn passengers.
